The Summit- 14,411

Brian and Lyndsy have been training to summit Mt. Rainier for last few months and their hard work has paid off.  They had a weekend of beautiful weather and an awesome climb.
Mount Rainier is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 14,411 ft.
It is soooo cool that they made it to the summit and can say they have climbed Rainier!

The first day was to Camp Muir at 10,000 feet.
 On their way up.
 Hiking the Muir snowfield.
Camp Muir- see the boxy structure to the left of this photo- that's where they slept for the night.
They could see all major mountains in Washington on their hike.

Day 2 they hiked up to Ingraham Glacier for high camp.  The nights camp was set up in the snow, they hit the sack early to await their 12:30 am departure time for the summit!
Puffy's on and ready to climb!  They started at 12:30 and made it to the summit at around 4 am for sunrise!  Their group had the mountain all the themselves!

Not everyone makes it to the crater at Columbia Crest an elevation of 14,411 feet!  Mt. Rainier is a volcano so there was steam coming from parts of the crater!  Awesome!
Sounds like they had an amazing journey up the mountain and I am so proud of Brian for all his hard work and dedication!

Holy cow! That makeshift bridge picture is amazing! Totally freaks me out, but WOW!! What an adventure and accomplishment!

I too said whoa at the bridge. I would have gotten that far and refused to walk the plank. One brave puppy you have there.

This is awesome!! When Jeff and I climbed Mt. Elbert (14,439ft) there was barely any snow. It looks like your boys are climbing Everest! I was looking forward to climbing a few more this Summer before I knew I was preggo. Think you'll make it up next time?!
