Sugar Cookies

My mother in law makes the best sugar cookies you have ever had. They are soft and chewy and just the right amount of sweet. I can't even duplicate them. I try, but they just never taste as good. So fun to make though!

Rolled Sugar Cookies
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp mace

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, and vanilla- beat well. Sift the dry goods and blend into the creamed mixture. Divide in half, cover and chill for 1 hr. Roll out into about 1/4 inch, cut into shapes and bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes.

Frosting
(this is mostly guesswork)
2 cups powder sugar
1 tbl butter, melted
1/4 tsp vanilla
evaporated milk

Mix all together, adding as much milk as the desired consistency you want.
