This weekend Lyndenn and I made a trek up to Canada to see Emily and the new baby Quin. We started off the trip with pretty decent weather, roads, we had starbucks and even shopped at Lululemon!

Things were fine until we hit the Canadian border where were were searched, interrogated, separated and questioned, they confiscated my phone, more questions, they even called Jonda, threats of being deported for a year, and more fun things. All because I had my cameras, laptop, and a load of baby props. It was seriously very humorous and I can't even describe the funniness of it all. They were very concerned I was coming over to work an didn't get a work visa and was going to take work away from the Canadians! I love my road trips with Lyndenn! This is the first time we've been searched!

Other then that we had a very nice relaxing few days. It was perfect. See Quin is even smiling in this picture of me holding her...she likes me!

Let's Go Wild!

Crites Seed the company that Brian works for opted this year to spring for dinner and a booth at the Wenatchee Wild Hockey Game for their Christmas Party this year and it was great cause they waited till after Christmas and all the hustle to have it. So Friday night we got their early and had dinner and then watched the game from out booth!

My first trip to the ER

Thank goodness for Mom and Dad Faw who always are there when we need to go to the ER which neither Brian or I ever needed- until recently. On Saturday Brian was out snowmobiling and I was home crafting...(who knew crafting was a dangerous hobby).

While cutting some fabric with the rotary blade...I nearly severed the tip of my finger off, barely missed the bone...it hurt like heck, I screamed bloody burder, it bled alot and Mom and Dad Faw had to rush me to the ER...surprisingly I didn't shed a tear...kinda proud of my self. I have to wear this bandage for 10 days and then get my stitches removed...my nail might be ugly and my finger might be sensitive but atleast it's still there. Thanks Mom and Dad Faw for rescuing us, yet again.

Ashley came to be my comic relief....and clean me up...since the nurse was gonna leave me with dried blood all over the place.

Sunday afternoon after church Brian and I went to Leavenworth with Billy and April (they are a fun couple that goes to our church) to get a little snow shoeing and eat a a yummy restaurant called South. It was delish! Sordof a tex mex baja blend of fresh ingredients and delicious meats! Anyway, it's amazing how little snow we have gotten this year...even though we found enough to snowshoe it was surprising the lack of it. It was a warm and sunny day and it was so nice to be out of doors!!!

Brian has been enjoying this winter's snowmobiling. He has been out quite a few times with the guys. I am just jealous he actually gets to go play in the snow since we haven't had any at all at home! He went out with Kacey last weekend and I finally got to see a picture!

Saying Goodbye to Grandma Faw

Grandma Faw joined Grandpa in Heaven Thursday December 29th and we are so thankful she gets to see him again! We were fortunate enough to spend Christmas with Grandma and even celebrated her 84th Birthday a few weeks ago. She died unexpectedly and we will miss her greatly but know she is singing up there with Grandpa! Today is her service and all the family will gather once again in her honor.

I love these next two pictures of her...this was her graduation picture in 1940 and the next one is just a picture of her taken in California, I don't know the year.

Deep Fried New Years!

Matt and Brittany had an deep fried new years party! It was awesome! Everyone brought something different to deep fry! Not the healthiest way to ring in the New Year but fun all the same! We had mozz. sticks, egg rolls, onion rings, hot wings, corn dogs, twinkies, and oreos! It was also Brittany's birthday so we got to ring in the new year and celebrate her birthday! Thanks Matt and Brittany for the fun evening!!!!

We played minute to win it games...here were are trying to thread noodle onto a spaghetti noodle. Brian was the winner with seven!

He also became quite the trash talker!

And as you can see here, really helpful!

Then Matt decided to have a giant bon-fire and burn some of the brush out back! It was warm and toasty by the fire!

The Derners come to visit

The Derner Clan comes to Washington! Carrie, Seth, & Rece were in town for Christmas visiting family and so we got to hang out with them too! It was awesome! We made a yummy dinner of beef stroganoff and when I say we- I mean Seth made! He even made homemade egg noodles! They were quite tasty! And we just hung out and enjoyed eachothers company!

Carrie and I love to sew when we get together so we payed a visit to the fabric store and made a little clutch. So cute!

The next day we went to the Art Garden to paint pottery! Rece and Seth painted a platter! I think Rece ate as much paint as he put on the platter, but don't worry it's non-toxic! He was the hit of the day there!

So the week before Christmas Rachel and I decided to have a fun date at the Art Garden in Moses Lake and paint our own pottery! It was awesome! She painted a platter and I made an ornament and a little ring dish.

The only crummy part is you have to leave them there to get fired and finished! So you have to wait patiently to see the finished product!

Well it was another successful Faw Family Christmas! Everyone made it home for the holiday and we had a lovely time. We started the day with a little work party at Shelley and Jared's as they are putting the finishing touches on their house. Then we meandered our way back to our house for a feast. We started the night with a little shrimp roasting on the firepit. They were so delicious! We've got to do this shrimp roasting more often!

The menu was appetizers: roasted shrimp. main course: bbq salmon, twice baked taters, salad, bread, and yummy corn! dessert: red velvet cheesecake Here is our table. I made cute little stocking holders for the silverware and napkin rings. I love felt, it is so much fun and easy to work with.

Well I am sure you have all seen the Christmas Card by now. I styled Brian and I a little Christmas shoot especially for our Christmas Cards. Sending out Christmas Cards is truly one of my favorite things about the season! I love checking my mail this time of year! So many fun things in there!

There is a little Christmas Tree farm just down the road from us and so we decided to use that as our spot! I couldn't resist the Faw-La-La it's too perfect! Thanks to the lovely Jonda Spurbeck for the pics!

I made this tree all by myself. No help from Brian...

We had sugar cookies and even cut out marshmallows into Christmas shapes.

Kinda proud of this sign too, I made this all by my self, no help from Brian. I had his power tools out and was cutting and drilling! It was fun! I need to do that more often!

Gettin' Festive

It's gettin' festive up in here! We've decorated the tree and the house, yipee! Here's my newest additions to the ornament collection. I love collecting ornaments and remembering the story behind each one!

These are classic pea and corn ornaments...a shout out to Brian's profession! Got them at Sur La Table in Seattle when GiGi was here.

The nutcracker is an amazing memory from childhood, mom used to take us every year to the nutcracker ballet and get us see's candies suckers.. The angel Brian and I picked up from this awesome restaurant/shop in Mexico just last month.

Here's our skimpy tree. It is pretty tall, just very weak in the branches so only the lightweight ornaments made the cut this year. I made these yarn tree's for my table this year...gotta love DIY stuff.

Gettin' Festive!

Brian and I are finally getting around to gettin' festive....we got our tree and decorated our house this weekend...hey better late then never! We went to the Christmas Tree Farm down the road and found us a Charlie Brown tree. It was slim pickin's so late in the game. It's sparse and small but it was cheap and it's a real tree! I am a big believer in real christmas trees...those fake ones just don't feel right.

Here is Brian cuttin' her down and you can see how small she is...I can lift it with one arm. Gotta love character!

Long Horn Hunting...

So most of you have seen my posts about butchering beef....well this post is a little different cause the butcher usually comes and takes care of our beef....well the boys (Bryan and Brian) decided last weekend when we were up in Canada that they would butcher Emily' 2 long horn's...

so that's just what they did...

Emily is an awesome pregnant lady...she never complains and just does whatever she would do before she was preggers! So here we are caping the long horn so she can tan the hide and make a rug!

Fun with Friends

Last weekend Brian and I went to Bryan and Emily's for a visit. Emily and I crafted (go figure) and the boys went quadding (go figure).

We made owl crinkle toys and they were fun and easy!

Ofcourse there aren't any photos of the guys but here is evidence that they were out and about and stuck in alot of snow! They loved every minute of it.

Lessons in Spray Tanning

So the day before we left for Mexico I decided to get a spray tan, since I was pasty white...I asked around and a few friends said don't do it, and others said it works great...my final conclusion...don't get one...not worth the money and things like this happen! I realize this is solely my fault and it's pretty stinkin' funny...I left the hair net you wear too far down on my forehead, best part spray tans don't show up for hours...so I had one in the late afternoon went home went to bed and woke up to this the morning we are supposed to leave on the plane for Mexico...Brian was dying laughing...I was laughing too but also panicking...I was orange and only half my forehead was covered!

Don't worry enough lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, and exfoliaters and by that night it was pretty well faded.

Cute as a Button Baby Shower

Last weekend was Emily's baby shower and it was a hoot! We had decided on a 'cute as a button theme' and so we all got to crackin! Brittany made me an awesome diaper cake and I added some button flair to it.

Jonda made Pioneer Woman's Ice Coffee and we had Caramel Apple Cider...sooo good!

Cabo- Part Cinco- Random

Cabo- Part Quatro- Snorkel and Beach Day

The resort we stayed at wasn't safe for swimming but luckily it was a short jaunt over the rocks to awesome snorkeling and swimming.

Russ and Cathy, Janet, and Brian & I decided to make the trek one morning and it was well worth it. We were the first on the beach and it was a beautiful day.

Cabo- Part Tres- MOTORCYCLE RIDE

This was the highlight of the trip for Brian and I. We went to the local Harley store and rented a motorcycle for the day, got a map, and set out. We left at 9:30 and got back at 5:30, it was a 220 mile loop we made and it was awesome! There is something about seeing what Mexico actually looks like besides the tourist town, and we were still in the Baja, I can't imagine what 'real' Mexico is like. People asked...well what did you see...it's a hard question to answer...we saw so much, what was most interesting was seeing where people live and how they live out in the boon-docks...the fences they have created for their cows, etc. It was an awesome ride!

The guy are the harley store warned us to watch out for cows, horses, goats, etc...he wasn't kidding...we saw so many random animals roaming the land.

This is proof they get hit often...we came across many carcasses with swarms of vultures...

I love the cactus!

So going along the highways about every 10 miles there would be a cross or little sanctuary...Brian and I decided that if those signified how many people died out on the road we were in trouble...

This was a common scene...we would be going along for 50 miles and nothing around us and then all the sudden there would be a little market on the side of the road.

We stopped in the little town of Los Barriles for lunch at a hole in the wall taco shop and it was awesome and soooooo cheap!

Instead of the beaches being cluttered with resorts, they were lined with RV's... and people rode their ATV's everywhere! This was a serious retirement community because we saw more WA, CO, BC, CALI plates on cars.

Just thought this was a good picture of what the scenery was like.

So this was another highlight of the ride...we saw a road leading to the beach so we drove down it, swam in the ocean, and got back on the bike! It was spectacular.

This beach was huge and had this beautiful resort in the background...

The route we took was partly under construction...mexican construction...so we basically took the motorcycle on a dirt road (and a bumpy) for 30 miles or so...it was crazy...they don't make seperate lanes its just a free for all....pass when you want, who you want, on either side...parts of it were sketchy, but we made it!

Ok so best guest book idea...Scott and Ashley got tons of props as you will see below...and then had everyone take a Polaroid and put it in the book. It was a hoot! And the best part is the props made appearances on the dance floor throughout the night.

Cabo- Part Dos- Fishing

Saturday we went on a fishing excursion with Janet and Cathy & Russ. One of the most well known sites of Cabo is the famous arch which can only be seen from a boat. So this was a perfect opportunity to see it!

FISH ON! We caught a dorado and/or mahi mahi...it was a beautiful color in the water!

This flag signifies the type of fish you caught and you have to hang how many you catch.

Aunt Janet and Cathy

On our way back into the harbor a sea lion came out of nowhere and jumped up onto our platform looking for some goodies...him and the pelicans were both looking for snacks. When we tried to feed the sea lion some bait he was not interested...look at what he does.

We took our fish to the first restaurant we came to with a "you catch it, we cook it" sign. And it was amazing!

They cooked it three different ways....blackened with garlic and spices, breaded, and grilled.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico- part uno...

Brian and I made the trek down to Cabo San Lucas for his cousin Scott and Ashley's Destination Wedding! It was an amazing week! We stayed at the Playa Grande Resort.

We arrived Friday night just in time for dinner at Mi Casa, it was an awesome restaurant and the food was tasty!

It happens every year...and I know it's coming, and it kinda makes me a little sad, but then when I bite into that juicy steak with amazing flavor, I totally forget about these fuzzy cows and what happens to them! 77 was my favorite cow this year...he was the most mellow and curious of the bunch..he even let me pet him a few times...

The Curious Case of Cellulitis

Last Sunday morning when I called Brian from Cle Elum to tell him I was headed home he said he couldn't walk and was in intense pain (like a 10 on the 0-10 pain scale)....I ofcourse told him to call his parents and have them take him to the ER....which he did and its a good thing. We started at the ER in Quincy where they gave him pain meds (lots of them) and then took us by ambulance to Wenatchee...Brian even as doped up as he was on pain meds was mad that we didn't get to turn the lights on or go fast in his ambulance ride...haha! We hung out in the ER in Wenatchee and then were moved to the hospital and stayed the night and most of the next day. The only thing they can figure is whats called cellulitis....which is infection of the soft tissue...random...everyday has been better then the last and the redness, swelling, and pain is all going down with anti-biotics and rest. It took about a week but we are back in business and rockin' and rollin'.

This last weekend I met Sarah up at Suncadia (which is a beautiful resort in Cle Elum) for a wedding! It was an absolutely beautiful day and we had a blast. Best part was the bride got us our own room so we got to stay the night!

Barn Wood

The other day Ashley, Payton, and Rigley (Ashley's Dog) made the trek to Lind to gather some wood from Josh and Lyndenn's barn. We have lots of fun projects planned for this wood so stay tuned! Sadly, Lyndenn wasn't home, but Josh was kinda enough to help us get started and even secured our load when we left. Thanks Josh! Payton was armed and ready with a crowbar!

Spokane- Girls Weekend

Last weekend a few of the gals went to Spokane for a little shopping, dinner at the melting pot, and a little dancing at the Piano bar, and some people watching since it was Halloween weekend! We had a lovely time. We stayed at the Davenport which is always a nice time!

Bring on the trick or treaters! One of the advantages of living out in the country is that the only trick or treaters I get are people that I know. Which means I get to give things like popcorn balls, like in the old days when we were kids! I love this monster cookie bowl! I had 7 trick or treaters! Yay!

Last Thursday I ventured over to Seattle to pick up GiGi from the airport. We decided to live it up in the big city and hit up Pikes Place Market, ate at the Waterfront Grille, went shopping at Bell-Square and had lots of Starbucks! This past weekend Brian and I met up with some friends from college back in Pullman for a Cougar football game. (my first...shocker...I know, I went to school there for 3 years and never once made it to a football game...) There are quite a few college buddies missing as this was opening hunting season, so that's where most of the men-folk ended up. We arrived in time to hit up the Bookie (where they sell all the fun cougar gear) Ferdinand's which is the WSU Creamery and they make amazing cheese and ice cream. We hung out by the campers and enjoyed the beautiful weekend!

Well the biking season is coming to an end...but we are definitely still enjoying it. Ash, Brian, and I went to Ellensburg the other weekend for lunch!

Fall also means yard clean up around these parts. The poplar trees were in need of a good trimming.

Maddy has been spending most of the day in the tall pasture grass....not sure why, but she loves it out there.

Who doesn't love fall comfort food? I know I certainly do...and my favorite part of fall is all the homegrown ingredients. I made soup the other night that every ingredient was home grown...down to the onions! I got tomatoes, onions, peppers, and carrots from Amber, Zucchini from Lyndenn and Brittany, Herbs from my pots, Beans from Kim, Corn that Brian grew...it was delicious, even if it was meatless...which Brian protested too...

October means a few things over here...the first being fall...obviously, the second being that the cows are no longer getting enough feed from the pasture and we now start their daily hay/grain routine. With 7 cows we needed a better feeder system...so Boss built one.

He still has to put a few finishing touches on it, but he installed the new panels and built this bunker so they can't push the hay too far back.

77 thinks it will work nicely.

October also means I go and get my gourds and pumpkins for the porch...this year Maddy decided that I must have brought the gourds home for her and insists on eating them!

California

One of the great perks of Brian's job is that I get to travel with him...so when his boss told him to go to California to look at the corn trials and evaluate them, I was so there! We started in Gilroy at his corn trials and then drove to Monterey.

First order of business: eat lunch at In & Out Burger!

Second order of business: evaluate the corn

Third order of business: THE BEACH!

This was a very quick trip and by very quick I mean we flew in Wednesday at 10:00 and left Thursday at 3:00....but we managed to cram everything into that time!

Here is the real reason we were there...

The Boss man, evaluating...it is actually very fascinating to think the work he does helps determine the varieties that are bred, planted, and ultimately you eat!

We don't look very 'beachy' in our work boots but it was so beautiful!

We drove through Pebble Beach on the 17 mile drive, which led us to some awesome sights!

Did you know if you focus those big binoculars you pay a quarter to use and then take a picture to them you can see it! Here it is!

Sarah and Justus come to Eastern Washington

We had two awesome visitors over this week! Sarah and Justus made the trek over from Sumner to Ephrata for a visit to the farm country. We did all sorts of activities...that of which included photoshoots, riding a horse (thanks julia), riding a 4-wheeler, riding the lawn-mower, picking green beans and pumpkins, eating fresh picked corn, picking apples (thanks brittany), sarah and I sitting side by side with out MAC laptops and surfing the web while editing photos, and enjoying the lovely fall weather.

Zac Brown Band Concert

Last saturday night Brian and I went to the Zac Brown Concert at the Gorge with Dustin and Julia. It was awesome! Neither of us had been to the Gorge for a concert in years and never together...and it's only 20 minutes from the house! We scoped out seats on the grass and then half way through Julia and I made our way down to the stage...we go so close it was awesome!

I borrowed a friends pipet tips and bag...I will say I think layered cakes are more my thing....they require less patience and a less of a delicate hand...either way, the butterfly was a success cause Addy Lou Hoo loved it.

The wind farms are a growing industry around here...and they have a very cool interpretive center on the top of Vantage for one of them. Brian and I decided it was too nice of a morning to pass up a trip on the bike up there.

Last weekend I made a whirl wind trip to Puyallup to shoot a wedding with Sarah...it happened to be her cousins wedding so I got to see her, Justus, and her fun family and hang out for a little bit.

Sunday am I had to jet out to Prosser for the arrival of Gunnar Wayne, so I totally missed the Puyallup fair....oh cow chip cookies...I will be back next year!

I made this candy corn banner the other day. I love it. Just cut out some burlap, painted it, and wha-la....hung it up! Happy Fall!

Going North-East

After riding with the Roberts and Pingetzer's, Brian and I were hooked...it didn't take much to convince us that this is something we wanted to do more often.....ergo....this little beauty right here! I think the color is what sold Brian right away....then he rode it and knew it was the one he wanted. It is a Harley Davidson Fat Bob and it's awesome!!!!

The best thing about riding a motorcycle is that you go places you never would travel to in your car, back windy roads that are just gorgeous, and not to mention all the amazing smells you get...the forest, camp fires, flowers, water, etc...I love it!

This weekend we went on a ride with Lyndsy and Ashley up to the north-eastern most corner of the state! We ended up in the town of Metaline population 238....it was a spectacular ride...we left at 9 am and arrived in Ione around 4 oclock.

I never realized how many beautiful bodies of water the state of Washington has.

This was the best stretch of the ride....into republic...spacious roads, no cars, the right amount of curves, Brian opened her up and we were flying....it was awesome!

We shacked up at the Porter's Plaza Hotel in Ione...actually a pretty decent place!

Someday I will get my own bike....for right now, I am content being a passenger!

We ended up in Silver Lake Idaho at a car show, it was a great happen-stance, cause we ran into this guy who builds these little contraptions...it was a mini 3 speed motorcycle and side car, he took me for a ride!

They even had a car like 'The King' in the Cars movie...

Zucchini Cupcakes wtih Caramel Frosting

Oh my word...this has to be one of the best frostings I have eaten in a long time. I am thinking my next carrot cake needs this frosting...or a spice cake...or pumpkin cookies...or pumpkin muffins....you get my drift.

Ingredients

3 eggs
1-1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon almond extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1-1/2 cups shredded zucchini
CARAMEL FROSTING:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 to 2 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions

In a large bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, oil, orange juice and extract. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to egg mixture and mix well. Stir in zucchini.

Fill paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350° for 20-25. Cool and Frost.

For frosting, combine the brown sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Cool to lukewarm.

Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until frosting reaches spreading consistency.

Maddy's Summer Fun

Mad-Dog is somewhat of a celebrity in the eyes of Ruth (Trisha's kiddo)...we talk about Maddy alot, we look at pictures and videos of Maddy alot and we draw lots of Maddy pictures. Ruth drew this picture for Maddy and wanted to give her a treat!

Mad-Dog certainly enjoys all the attention and is so gentle when Ruth gives her treats, poor kid has been slobbered on more then one in the face though. Maddy is a good kisser.

In other note-worthy Maddy summer days she got to take a ride in Ellie (my car) to town to go to the groomers...we even stopped at Trisha's store to visit Ruth. She loved it. I folded up the seats for her and so she could come up front and hang with me. She sat next to me the whole time and checked out the scenery!

Apple Muffins

Baking muffins is what I do when I want to procrastinate on things like vaccuming, editing photos, or laundry...I especially love making muffins because they are something that can be easily distributed to multiple people. Part of why I love baking is because I get to give it away!

Apple Muffins

Cream together:
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup oil
1 Tablespoon vanilla

Sift:
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon cloves

3 cups peeled, cored, diced apples (around 3 apples)
Brown sugar for topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line muffin pan with paper liners.

Cream together sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon (I never sift and they turn out fine). Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix until combined. The batter will be very thick. Add the diced apples.

Fill paper liners almost to the top, about 3/4 of the way full. Sprinkle with brown sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-24 minutes. Makes 18 muffins.

I have been going to the Grant. Co. Fair since as long as I can remember and I love it, I love the smells, the fair food, the animals, the people, the rodeo, I don't even mind the lines.

Finally the wedding! Shelley was a beautiful bride, not that any bride isn't, but she had this sophisticated look to her and it was stunning! Jared was looking pretty stellar in his suit too! They had a quaint church wedding at the Pioneer Church in Quincy, it is a restored over 100 year old church, so awesome. The reception was in Russ and Cathy's yard and it was a beautiful evening complete with Country Boy's BBQ for dinner! SOOOO good!

Brian and Kevin had the very important job of being the door men for the wedding...they did an excellent job!

Cathy's basement became a floral shop! Meara was the fearless florist (she made shelley's bouquet, boutineers, and more). She directed us for the task for making the centerpieces..which were wild flowers all picked from Jared's dad's garden and a few neighbors.

Let's just say the basement may never be the same!

Maddy was especially excited to have friends over (since the wedding was at the house Elsie and Moxie didn't need to pester the guests) so they came for a sleepover!

Let the wedding activities commence! This last weekend Shelley and Jared got hitched and we started the festivities off with a bang...the gals all piled into the suburban and headed to the Omak Stampede for a good ol' fashioned rodeo and suicide race! The suicide race is where they run down this incredibly steep hill on the horses, cross a river, up another hill and then into the rodeo arena...it is a very dangerous trek but many attempt it yearly!

Food Preservation

There are numerous reasons why summer is the best, but all the awesome food is one of the reasons...I found rotten bananas at the store the other day! Love rotten bananas! Cause they make awesome dried bananas which are by far my favorite dried fruit.

Brock and Amber have a killer bean garden and shared some green beans with me so I canned them up for enjoying mid winter!

Lyndenn gave me this fabulous idea to use some pesto....and since I was making a fresh batch I decided to try it out...this will be the best tuna sandwhich you will ever eat! You probably wont make any new friends with the breath you will have following eating this but it is well worth it.

Start with some fresh pesto and a can of tuna...mix that together...

Add some artichoke hearts...

A few slices of fresh garden maters...

spread your bread with mucho pesto add the tuna/pesto/artichoke mix....and prepare for amazingness! I am not kidding....I was in heaven...maybe add some fresh mozzarella..

Boat Camping

Boat camping with friends is definitely one of the best ways to spend a summer weekend! Last weekend we headed up to Roosevelt with Aaron and Amy, loaded the boat with all our stuff and set out to find a spot to pitch the tent along side the water! After some searching we found a great spot! Set up camp and enjoyed 2 days of bbqing and boating.

I would argue campfires and smores are about the best thing about camping...

If you haven't tried the new stacker mallows for smores...they make a smore 10 times better...

There is a time period in my life when I never took pictures...and I can't figure out why that is...I have analyzed it...no logical explaination...that was when I was in college at WSU...where I met awesome people like this Sarah...we used to enjoy sanwhich saturdays (we would go to safeway and eat yummy artisan bread sandwhiches) go tanning and sit around and make fun of sorority girls..we may have entered the REC center a few times to work out, which usually made for more great conversations of making fun of sorority girls...all of this to say, I dont have a single picture of Sarah and I at college...that's just lame! So we have to make up for lost time! Here we are last weekend at Jenah and Matt's wonderful wedding! Sarah can rock the red lipstick...makes me jealous!

Last Weekend I got to go to Canada to visit the wonderful Emily for a quick trip, totally worth it though becuase whenever I go to Emily's we always end up on some sort of adventure, this weekend adventure was RAD! Yep, I totally used the term rad! We drove up to Mt. Cheam parked the rigs, and took the quads up father the mountain and then hiked for a few hours and had BLT's on the hill! All of the family was in tow in celebration of Emily's birthday!

Can you see the tiny people in the left bottom of this picture on the trail....yeah that's how far away that it...best part is we bum slid down this snow bank all the way....it rocked! We climbed about mid way up that mountain...so beautiful!

A Day at the Lake

Brian and I haven't spent a ton of time at the lake this year because the weather hasn't been awesome. But we decided to take a day and go to Lake Roosevelt with the Roberts Fam. It was a lovely afternoon!

Weddin' Weekend

This last weekend was the wedding of the wonderful Will and Nicole...it was a fantastic weekend full of our awesome friends! The best part about weddings is that we get to see all of the great people we went to WSU with. This wedding was chalk full of them!

Emily was the wedding planner extraordinaire, Lyndenn was a lovely bridesmaid.

Jonda and myself were lucky enough to be the photographers! Here we are with the lovely newlyweds! Who doesn't love a wedding with the groom in a cowboy hat, I know I do!

This is Craig, him and Brian were state FFA Officers together way back when!

BEST Part of this wedding, well besides the bride and groom- was the bridesmaids surprised Will and Nicole with the WSU Mascot at the reception...if you have never met him this is Butch the Cougar....Will was a WSU football star and this entire wedding was pretty much WAZZU fans so the Mascot was a HUGE HUGE hit!

Josh and Brian have a tradition of getting their picture together at weddings...I should dig all of them out at somepoint...some of them are quite funny.

Scenic Drive

Lydnsy, Ashley, Kim, and Brian and I went on a beautiful scenic motorcycle ride this past week... We went over the North Cascades Highway (which was amazing) to Marysville to stay at Amber and Shane's house for the night, Amber is definitely the hostess with the mostest!...

It was an incredible ride! We had the most beautiful weather on our ride over, we were even in tshirts and tank tops it was so nice! The rode home was definitely a little more chilly! Thanks Roberts and Pingetzer Fam's for the awesome road trip!

Saturday I had a wedding and Brian went skiing with some friends...so Sunday we took Shelley and Jared and Russ and Cathy out for some fun on the water....it was a wee bit windy but fun no less.

Sunday afternoon was some good ol' fashioned shooting...who doesn't like to blow things up...I know we do!

Monday we went out to the George Washington 4th of July Celebration where they have a giant cherry pie...

I've been on a blogging hiatus...as you can see...it's been 2 weeks...and for me, that is a long time! That just means summer is officially here and Brian and I are now busy with work and not as much fun. He has been busy busy planting trials, having field days, and driving all over the country side- as for me, wedding season has started...needless to say we have been slammed. I haven't taken a picture of Brian or I in weeks...ofcourse it would help if we actually saw eachother...

I made these glazed lemon cookies the other day....oh my goodness...soooo good..

GLAZED LEMON COOKIES
Ingredients
1 1/2 sticks butter room temp
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large egg yolks
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, plus more if necessary
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

Directions

Beat the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add the egg yolks, vanilla, zest, and salt and beat to combine. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just incorporated.
Divide the dough in half and shape into 1 1/4-inch-diameter logs. Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
Heat oven to 350° F. Slice the logs into 3/8-inch-thick pieces and space them 1 1/2 inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake until lightly golden, 13 to 17 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to cooling racks to cool completely.
In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, lemon juice, and zest until it forms a thick but pourable glaze (add more lemon juice if necessary).

It's now pesto time...I just wish pine nuts weren't so dang expensive.

Maddy has been doing alot of sun bathing lately...I joined her today for a little bit, but she kept licking my ear while I was trying to nap outside.

Lind Combine Derby

Every year the second weekend in June, Lind holds the annual Combine Demolition Derby! It is a fun weekend complete with a parade, wheat truck races, and combine's smashing into one another. What's not to love! After LindyJean's bday party, Brian and I made a mad dash to Lind and made it just in time.

This weekend was LindyJean's first birthday party and what a party it was! I went to Prosser Friday night and hung out and helped Jolene with the getting ready!

My basil is growing nicely, I am getting anxious to start making pesto...

First Boat Outing

This weekend we finally got the boat out for the first outing of 2011. The Tait family joined us for a little evening sunshine and fun on the water! The boat fired right up which was a plus....and the water was actually not too bad!

Brian better watch out, all this flying and I am going to get addicted and he's going to have to go get a pilots license so he can take me flying! Mike Wren took us up on Friday morning for a ride over Brian's crops so we could get some photos. We flew from the Ephrata airport to Tri-Cities, back to Quincy, and then home. It was awesome!

We even made it over our house! It looks so crazy from up there!
